The Barrier draw for the 2003 AAMI Stradbroke, BMW Queensland Derby and Treasury Casino Brisbane Cup was held at the Queen Street Mall in Brisbane.

It all commenced with a fashion parade where "Jacki" the face of the 2003 races was amongst the models strutting their stuff. Shortly after the fashion parade it was onto business for the barrier draws of Saturday's 2003 AAMI Stradbroke and BMW Queensland Derby as well as Monday's Treasury Casino Brisbane Cup.

Sheila Laxon was present with John Symons who received a blow when his super colt Bel Esprit drew the outside barrier 23. John said "The colt is at his peak and though he was washed out of the Galaxy which is a concern, one must wait and see what happens". Bell Esprit will be retiring to Stud at Eliza Park after the running of the AAAMI Stradbroke.

Clarry Conners was at the draw. He has his talented runner Cosmic Rays in the Stradbroke. It was another horse, Rose Archway, however that was given the wrapps by Conners. Rose Archway had 18 months off after falling ill and run third in her second run back in this campaign. Her run looked good on Saturday and she is flying according to Clarry for the Treasury Casino Brisbane Cup

Private Steer's trainer John O'Shea was not all that happy with barrier 1 if the rain persists and the race will be run on a heavy track. "Private Steer has come along since the Doomben 10,000 and will not be far from the lead in the Stradbroke", O'Shea commented.
